Happy Anniversary to mi parientos

Happy anniversary to my parents. They are wonderful examples of integrity. I am blessed to have been brought up by them! They are giving, loving, hard workers, very caring, and forgiving people. They put their blood and sweat into their work—there’s no “on the fence” with them. Great values, work ethic, love for each other, great habits, I love them so much.

"how's it going Frank?"

ever felt like doing this at the office, even w/o the slow internet? ;)

this commercial demonstrates perfectly what a domino effect does. it only takes one person to stop the domino effect. be a bigger person, don't let someone's crudeness affect you. brush it off. be pleasant to those around you. that way there will be no ceiling chalk to fall into the guy's coffee cup one level below you.

some bosses

I've had a lot of jobs; many basically forgettable, nothing fantastic. I'm still hoping for that. But, I've had the misfortune of having a few bosses I'd like to forget, permanently. A few of the lowlights include:

- grabbing / "adjusting" themselves in front of you in inappropriate places.
- doesn't know when to stop the "teasing" with the cutting, harsh remarks. (ever not know when your joking goes too far? notice who's not laughing.)
- they come back from lunch wreaking of alcohol.
- they get the rest of the staff against you, plotting against you to fulfill his own selfish twisted agenda.
- will tell lies (aka "stretching the truth") to make himself sound good or to avoid getting himself in deep water.
- "entertaining" clients by taking them to Hooters for lunch. (uh-huh...)
there's a lot more that I could share, but choose not to. you're saying thank you, I'm sure. I know I'm not the only one with these kinds of experiences.

in conclusion... there are some experiences you just don't want to repeat ever again. Some people you wish you'd never have met and care not to remember. There are others that the sweet memory of them will stay with you a lifetime. But in all cases everyone has learned something at one point - be thankful for that. And don't dwell on the past. But look forward to the good! Isaiah 43:14-21 "God says: I will make a way for you." vs. 18-19 don't dwell on the past.

easy there

I remember when we moved to IL, I was shocked at how the people drove here, but also shocked at how some parents (strangers to me) talked to their kids. I have since become accustom to the driving, but hope I never become accustomed to a harsh yelling parent. I really noticed the difference when I would travel and be out of state somewhere else and was pleased to hear parents talk more calmly and nicer to their kids. Don’t get me wrong; I am all for discipline—just not for the whole store or mall to hear you do it and in such a rude, harsh manner.

I feel bad for the kids. It’s as if the mothers scold their children at the store or mall (wherever) out of embarrassment for themselves. They are embarrassed [of what they think is obnoxious behavior of their child] and half the time I’d like to say to them “you know what? He’s really not bothering me. You don’t need to make a scene.” The parent ends up making a bigger scene themselves then whatever the kid was doing in the first place. And the poor kid turns out to be embarrassed/ humiliated, but more so, sad that they have disappointed their mom—sad that she’s yelling at him in public. I see the poor kids face as they pass me in the aisle. So many times I’ve held my tongue, I’d like to say “easy lady! He’s just 3 years old”, it’s not like he just tore up the entire store. There’s a right way and a wrong way to discipline. I feel so bad for the kids I want to whisper to them, “mommy must just be having a bad day.”

here's a helpful link I came across later. It may be a good resource for screamer parents.

mis-matched fellow

check out this guy. First time I saw him I laughed & took a picture. Then I saw him again exactly two weeks later, same place, same time. I laughed again & took another picture; guess he likes plaid with plaid. Maybe I'm missing out on some new fashion trend. ...notice the lady he's with, same outfit down to the shoes.

singapore airport

Did you know that the Singapore airport has a swimming pool & a desert oasis ... located inside the airport? Travelers on layover can take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi! They also have napping areas & a nature trail with 6 different gardens! How cool is that? oh yeah, they also have a Game Zone with 6 Microsoft Xbox Live gaming consoles. now this is one airport I have got to experience. I hope I can make it there someday to see this. what a smart airport.
I had heard this on the BBC news when they were talking about updating the London airport.
here's the Changi website.

'priceless' commercial

cookie dough

I was so excited to come across this articleif you know me at all, you know I love cookie dough! As human beings, many of us love cookies. But if there's anything we love more, it's the raw dough we make before cooking it. Here are some basic instructions for making cookie dough you can eat straight from the bowl (i.e. all the flavor without the raw eggs). Ingredients
Standard Dough
* 5-6 oz sunflower spread/margarine/butter
* 6 oz caster sugar - OR - 3 oz of caster sugar and 3 oz of brown sugar
* 6 oz plain flour
* pinch of salt (optional- may not be needed if you use salted butter)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (additional ingredients)
* 1-2 tbsp cocoa (or more to taste)
* 1-2 packets chocolate chips
Steps 1. Put the sunflower spread in a large cooking bowl and add the sugar. Stir together until you get a lumpy paste.
2. Sieve the flour into the mix and stir again until the mix is as thick and sturdy as possible.
3. Eat the dough as is. Enjoy!

I’m so trying this!
*tip: 6oz = 3/4 cup

okay, so I tried it. ehh... I have to say I like the real cookie dough better. this recipe needs more than a 'pinch' of salt. it tastes pretty buttery. and i'm sure chocolate chips help the taste. (we're out of them right now). yeah... i added more stuff to it & put it in the oven. so this recipe ... i don't suggest it. aren't you glad i tried it first?
