The US, EU and UN will not deal with Hamas, which seized the Gaza Strip in 2007, unless they reject violence and recognise Israel.
Hamas's charter calls for the destruction of Israel, although the group has also offered a long-term truce if Israel withdraws to its pre-5 June 1967 borders.
It just seems like "dealing with the devil" to me.

An adviser to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Washington must reverse its support for Israel and end sanctions against Iran.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7955550.stm
The adviser, Ali Akbar Javanfekr, also said the US had to apologise to Iran for its past actions.
kind of interesting that...
Mr Obama's offer came in a direct video address to mark the Iranian New Year. This is the time we're living in now. Once/If the US turns it's back to Israel.... mmm, not good. The unprecedented approach is a dramatic departure from the policies of the Bush administration, which described Iran as part of the "axis of evil", the BBC's Jonathan Beale in Washington says.
Relations between Iran and the US have been strained over Tehran's controversial nuclear activities.
I'm waiting for Amazing Race to start, which has been delayed b/c of bball games. and Mr. Shmoozer, loves his face time on tv, is on 60 minutes. ugh! I can't stand hearing him talk. I shall change it.
and after ALL we've heard on Geithner: Obama still defends him. Wha???
Obama fends off Geithner doubters ... ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
Mr Geithner has already made headlines for the wrong reasons during his short time in Mr Obama's administration. There is obviously some kind of personal adgenda Obama must have to fight so hard for Geithner to be in position. We don't know what, but in time all will show itself.
And, he seems to have so much time on his hands. Good grief!
Instead, the president - giving his longest interview since taking office, to the 60 Minutes TV show -And on Jay Leno this past week, his now well-known blunder. "oops". Talk about politically correct. Not him in this case, eh? White House staff sure must have earned their pay following that slip of the tongue.
